Adoption day

Oh Boy!!! What a weekend!

I was at the Killeen Animal Shelter since November 29, 2006, in a kennel with four other puppies. Then on December 9, I saw these people walk by and the big guy bent down to play with me. I played with him, too, wagged my stumpy little tail really hard, hoping he would understand that I really liked him. I was really, really hoping they would let me out of the cage, but they walked away, and I went to the back of the kennel to pout.

About 15 minutes later, he came back! I could not believe it! He came back to pick ME... ME ... really ME! He said "Come here, Buddy! You're going home with me."

And he scooped me up and carried me out to the van.

Vet visit

I had to go straight to the vet to get checked out, which went fine, 'cause I got these big goodies that tasted really good, and I ate the whole jar!!! Then my belly was really big and full, but I liked that place - there was food!

Meet my pack

So then they drove me home - what an experience! There were four big dogs, I mean BIG dogs, waiting to check me out. I played with three of them, but the big black guy kept barking really loud at me - so I had to stand my ground and bark back at him. It was kinda fun, kinda scary .... but my new people stopped us and told Skeeter, that's his name, to stop barking, so I did, too.

My new house has a doggie door, so I can go outside everytime I need to do my business, or when I want to play or lay outside - it is really cool, and I only made a mess in the house one time, when I got so carried away with investigating, that I forgot what I needed to do. Nobody got mad though, 'cause I think these people understand pups, and I am really trying to learn everything I am supposed to do.

My human alpha female said to the alpha male that I was a really quick learner. I guess that is a good thing?

A name for me

Although I have been trying to be very good, my HAM (Human Alpha Male) looked at me at one time and said "I think you look like a "Bandit" - that was cool, I don't mind, I think it fits me just fine. So now I am Bandit, the Australian Shepherd mix. My humans are still trying to figure out the mix part, 'cause I am only 2 1/2 months old and weighed 20.3 lbs yesterday, so they think I may be a Big Mix of some sort.
